Francis Baker Obituary, Death – The loss of Francis LeRoy Baker, a devoted former employee of Swoyersville Borough, has caused the community to grieve. His legacy of honesty and devotion to the town was built by Roy, who was beloved by all who knew him, who spent decades serving the community. In 1982, Roy started his journey with the Swoyersville Borough as a part-time police officer. His exceptional work ethic and unwavering commitment swiftly landed him a full-time police officer promotion in 1989.

Roy faithfully served the community for the last seventeen years, until he retired in October 2006. Roy took on many roles throughout his time here, including that of juvenile officer in Swoyersville and expert witness for the Luzerne County Drug Task Force. His dedication to law enforcement and community service was further demonstrated by his key role as secretary for the FOP Lodge 36. In addition to his successful career, Roy was a much-loved community member whose compassionate nature touched the lives of many.

Throughout the borough, Swoyersville citizens held him in high regard for his unwavering commitment to serving and protecting them. Roy was a beloved family man in addition to his many accomplishments in the business world. The legacy of Roy Baker, who is the father of John Baker, the present director of emergency management in Swoyersville, lives on in the Baker family.
