John Barth Death: The funhouse in Cambridge, Maryland, where the American novelist William Barth had been resided, was thought to be the location where he had passed away during his last moments. Barth had been residing at that location. Since both John Barth and Chris Durang, who was a close friend of ours, went away this morning, it was a morning that everyone in our firm found to be quite painful. There were two people who had gone away this morning.
Each of these people was a dear friend of ours before they passed away. It is my sincere wish and prayer that Chris Durang is finally at rest for all of eternity. Chris, in the manner of a diligent satirist, meticulously crafted an anger that was not only humorous but also fundamentally transforming. The method in which he did this was not only something that was entertaining, but it was also something that was transformative.
Beginning with Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All For You and continuing through Beyond Therapy, The Marriage of Bette and Boo, Vanya, and other films, he was completely uncompromising in his manic comedic wrath. Some of the films he worked on include Vanya. His pursuit of excellence was unrelenting and unwavering. It was impossible to keep him under control when he was in a violent mood. Jerry Zaks, who was well-known for his free-wheeling style to directing, was the one in command of all of this production.
